Buy my book!

The Bretton Woods Transcripts, edited by me and Andrew Rosenberg, was released earlier this week. It contains previously unpublished verbatim records of meetings of the 1944 monetary conference in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire that established the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The book itself has no direct bearing on free banking, but it is a small part of the answer as to why and how free banking disappeared from the 1920s to the 1940s. Free banking is notable by its absence in the transcrripts; it seems to have become unthinkable by that time.
The book, for the time being available in electronic form only, is only $9, inexpensive given its length. Here is the Web page for the book, which includes as supplementary material some unpublished documents from the Bretton Woods conference. Here is a story about the book in the New York Times.
